Ugetsu monogatari
1953 Japanese Classic.Directed by Kenji Mizoguchi. Inspired by short stories by Ueda Akinari and Guy de Maupassant. It is Mizoguchi's most celebrated film, regarded by critics as a masterwork of Japanese cinema.
Ugetsu is set in the late 16th century. It revolves around two peasant couples who are uprooted as Shibata Katsuie's army sweeps through the their farming village, Nakanog
