Huh, I liked it. I thought it had a good plot, incorporating Chinese folklore and legend into the story line (although it was a bit stereotypical) and had a few good scares. The special effects were done well, too. The ending is somewhat predictable but I thought Jamie King did a good job in the role of frantic mother willing to do anything to save her son.

I liked this a lot, It was cool but so American it confused me :D The lack of subtitles made it hard to watch (I\'m used to reading even when I watch movies in my own language) and it\'s stupid that they spoke english in the flashback scene. Still, a great movie and I loved it :)

The storyline is straight forward. Nice line, the female actress played the mother is really good, she is really into her char.

Anyhow, 7/10 for me, not that scary, creepy or gory. But rather nice to watch. Especially its in English, my husband and I both understand it.

Quite an interesting movie. Interesting in various ways
1) the storyline is straightforward, but keeps you wondering about the truth, and why
2) interesting because it took a generic and common theme of the Chinese horror setting -- the yearly ghost month, and turned it into a suspensful movie.
3) the script, I must note, that caught me off guard. We all know that the clinic owner told the mother to *come see me when its too much for you* and we all knew that she would have to come back to him on qeue as the movie progressed. But I never expected it to be qeued by the nurse at that moment. It completely caught me off guard. Not like the conventional *shit wtf do i do wtf do i do...ahhh....lets turn to him*.
4) the actress that played as the mother did a very good job, put all her emotions into her role.
5) interesting ritual introduced in order to speak with the dead
6) most importantly, unexpected scares that pop up, unlike conventional horrors where u would expect them to happen at certain places.

-the mother in the shower and the ghost popup got me -the son in the clinic right after reading the book, got me with the *assistant*

anyways, I rate this an 8/10. good movie, something that stands out from the rest of the movies.

I watched this on Sci-fi once, I believe. I was not impressed. I would recommend checking out other films on this site before resorting to this one.

Hey, The Dragon Spooker don\'t you mean syfy...LOL... I hate the new name, it looks so..baby-ish...anyway i watched it there too..it was aight..not very scary, but the dad is hot..

There are some nice ghostly touches but the overall thing doesn\'t make a great impact. 4/10

I really like that movie, but I thought that it was more an american movie based on chinese folklore more than an actual chinese movie. I find it very scary, the demon in the shop scare me everytime...

Great movie! Well told, good back story and character development!
