good stories about a bad house.
Judi (11/4/2008 @ 4:32 am)
Ahh, these were taken from the American version of the Grudge I & II. Still a great story. Creepy!
NENE (11/4/2008 @ 5:57 am)
ACTUALLY THE AMERICAN VERSION RIPPED OR SHOULD I SAY REMADE IT.
dinggle (11/5/2008 @ 8:29 am)
Hollywood always taking their filthy hands and @#!%ing up sum movie, just like they tried to remake shutter
| machetero (11/8/2008 @ 10:49 am)
JUDI i watch alot of asian movies and is the american industry who is remaking horror movies from the asians sorry the grudge was made by japan filmakers, just like the eye ,dark water, and so many more asians are the kings when it comes to horror get youre facts right.
Ha Yun (11/11/2008 @ 3:29 am)
I hate that America steals Asia\'s movie ideas. I think A Tale Of Two Sisters is coming out in America, (not in theaters) Maybe I\'m wrong.

But Japan made Ju-on way before American made The Grudge.
kingpin (11/12/2008 @ 5:20 am)
I hate the way all of you guys(most asian) have this complex about americans. If it wasn\'t for america you wouldn\'t even have film to make movies with. And sure america is ripping off alot of asian films. But not for saying, hey america made this first, it\'s respect for the asian films. Of course asian horrors are more interesting and i like them better but alot are just stupid. America has good films The Shinning, Texas Chainsaw, The birds, all the Twilight zone episodes. They have good stories so you asian who knock american horror or movies should really think about what you are saying first of all.
Kay (11/13/2008 @ 2:31 am)
\"Kingpin\" your going way off base and completely off the subject, talking about past movies when they are talking about now especially given the fact that most American horror movies now don\'t say that they are remakes, Saying \"if it wasn\'t for America BS\" now that is just rambling, you do understand that Americans and Europeans back in the day kept more records then Asians and Africans because they were too busy being poor, so you really don\'t know who made what first, because it would be like saying America came up with paper and gun powder first~ forget this, who the hell does science think they are saying that Pluto suddenly isn\'t planet, now that is some BS...
Kay (11/13/2008 @ 2:42 am)
Also, didn\'t notice \"kingpin\" assuming people are Asian that are complaining, you’d be surprised about opinions of your fellow Caucasians...complex about Americans? BS, I might as well ask you about things like why the media portrays Asian people like nerds, losers, and psychos in the media or in horror remakes? such as the movie \"21\" based on a true story when surprisingly it was really 5 Asian people who did it and Shutter where they change everyone to a Caucasian and the psycho girlfriend an Asian? Get off the pride train...you’d be surprised how well people lie to make themselves look good. Being born in America and learning history and over-time realizing how twisted it really is stinks.
Hashi-Tashi (11/14/2008 @ 9:41 am)
I never fret too much over who-made-what first. In reality, you would be hard-pressed to find anything that is actually 100% original in any form regardless of what side of the globe it\'s created on. Any media, film or otherwise, is inherently formulaic.

Can\'t we just all get along? We are a world of writers, directors and film makers. Why should there be sides? If it is good the world will like it, doesn\'t matter who makes it. Entertainment is important to all people, let\'s just be entertained, the source is unimportant. We are all human, and some day there will only be one race, a blend of all. There is no superior nation or race, we all have something to give and/or share, all are included. Let\'s maintain freedom and freely exchange, all becoming stronger together, all becoming united in love.
knx (12/11/2008 @ 6:12 am)
8/10. xxx
PinocCHIO (12/18/2008 @ 2:24 am)
CORRECTION: this is not taken from the American versions of grudge one and two. The original are Japanese and the Americans took it and remake it into American versions. Which are why the Asian version are much scarier.
Dbest (12/31/2008 @ 8:42 am)
Much scarier indeed!
SevenStarPA (1/6/2009 @ 11:15 pm)
And by the way: this is definitely NOT taken from the american version, this is the very first Ju-on, released only in Japan BEFORE they did The Grudge!!!
But it is true, there are great asian movies, usually bad american remakes BUT also great american movies. No need to argue...
Pumi (1/15/2009 @ 7:33 am)
I usually don\'t watch the remakes, not since \"The Ring\". I was actually terrified at the American version but not so much with \"Ringu\". I still liked Ringu better. As for all the others, I will only watch the originals from Asia with the subtitles.
Pumiagain (1/15/2009 @ 7:47 am)
By the way...didn\'t a Japanese director make the American remake of the Grudge? Takashi Shimizu...wait...thats the same guy who directed \"Ju-on\" !!!! *gasp* how can this be?
Lily (1/23/2009 @ 9:00 am)
I almost wet myse...ah crap!
kayakofan (1/24/2009 @ 4:35 am)
Ok people stop talking about how America steals other horrors because they dont! They ask before remakeing it!

Wow.. way to be gay and argue on a movie website. Yall are sooo cool and so affected my life with your idiotic discussions. If you want to have an argument do it somewhere else. People like me read the comments to see if it is a good movie... A decent movie.. No one cares about your stupid little ramblings... So go be a hero somewhere else and freaking stick to the topic of the god dang movie.
.. Thank you.
Divasha (2/25/2009 @ 10:48 am)
Nice Movie.gr8 acting..8/10.
Genni (2/26/2009 @ 7:27 pm)
Kayakofan: You\'re right. The American movie corps. do have to get permission first. They\'ve been asking for the rights to a lot of movies lately, but they\'ve been being denied recently because Asian film makers don\'t want their movie to get a bad rep like a few remakes and originals have. I\'m actually take a class on this and it\'s really interesting - the battle between the originals not being remade, but Hollywood persisting.

Eden: I think you need to relax. They\'re not stupid ramblings. It IS a Asian movie site, they WERE talking Asian movies, so what if the discussion got a little heated? If you don\'t like it - don\'t read it.

Help.. (3/15/2009 @ 1:47 pm)
Hey this is not working for me it always gets over in 4:40 mins......
Minamoto-san (3/17/2009 @ 7:08 am)
wao / wow
japanese american...
guess what... the first 2 juons both are made by the same director...
what happened is simple...
a certain famous director in the US, saw the japanese versions in a screening and liked them so much, that out of respect...note that word for some of you who might need to respect others in the forems and opinions...
not that i\'m saying any of you don\'t...

but anyway the director in the us had the people from japan come over and between the 2 worlds of japan and America...the two \"American versions\" of ju on, were born.

it\'s a mutual respect for both the countries and cultures...
Asian and American...

which btw... i\'m Asian and American mixed...so what\'s that make me...lol here\'s a thought...
try the singular race of Human...and stop drawing petty borders...

Private Pooper (5/13/2009 @ 1:06 pm)
I\'m sorry about your mom, Captain. But yeah, to reiterate what some people have been saying. . . It\'s getting annoying hearing the same argument about who made what, who sucks, and who\'s better. Aren\'t there forums for this?
Gonzier234 (6/29/2009 @ 4:24 pm)
Kingpin - get a life. Texas Chainsaw isn\'t horror is a \"slasher\" movie. Watching a crazy white man butcher people is FAAAAAAAR from horror. Asians are more spiritual and thus believe in the supernatural. Twilight episodes are a thing of the past (get over it!). Asians rock when it comes to horror.!
Alvincent (7/25/2009 @ 6:16 pm)
slasher is horror, different ppl find different things scary. Take Jaws I thought it was crap but it ranks up there with the great horror movies, I don\'t think it is scary but understand why it is to others.

Anyway..this was Fuckin awesome 8/10.

With the whole America Vs Asia movies thing take it as a compliment if someone remakes a movie from your country (even if they fuck it up).
Alvincent (7/25/2009 @ 6:19 pm)
My sister no longer watchs Asian horror movies alone after the Grudge :)
Devilchild (7/26/2009 @ 6:49 am)
@all of you .stop fighting over who made this and remade that. its really fucking stupid.

Livia (8/29/2009 @ 7:24 pm)
This movie was creepy, but definitely not scary. I personally found the \"scary\" parts laughable. Personally, I sort of like the American version better, but the Japanese one is pretty good as well. If your looking for this to scare the crap out of you, then don\'t waste your time.

there\'s no video, not working..
mariodark (9/9/2009 @ 8:40 pm)
these movies, the ju-on series, are the greatest horror movies of all times :D there are no american copies that can beat these, fuck the US. japan is the best when it comes to dark, creepy, horror movies
Sang (9/11/2009 @ 5:23 am)
I agree with Livia , i did not find this scary or creepy at all. There were a few scenes where i had a laugh or two. Speaking of which i cant see how its suppose to be scary when Toshio has his mouth open for one it doesnt go well with the \"meows\" and two it looks more like his got a jaw problem.

Get a grip guys so what if the American Remakes aren\'t up to scratch with some of the Asian Horrors, what Geminate said is true movies are made a produce purely for entertainment but some might argue there maybe other purposes now days. But it was created purely for entertainment so lets just enjoy it together.

I\'ll just point out that im an Asian. Oh and for the movie i give it 5/10 it just made the cut.
penisu spielberg (9/13/2009 @ 12:03 am)
9/10
This film is a masterpiece, period.

And it’s stupid complaining about who’s ripping whom off. After all, the first horror movies we’re made by Jews (when we weren’t busy pioneering every other genre). ALL films are rip-offs. No ethnicity has a monopoly on talent,
so shut up and watch the movie.
Haiti PI (9/15/2009 @ 8:49 am)
For Asian Horror Movie fans many of the writers here don\'t seem to like Asian Horror, Horror, or know much about what they write about. The so called American movies were made in Japan, by the same Japanese Director who was fortunate to get some American money and a team of great producers (i.e. Sam Raimi) to make a higher budget JAPANESE horror movie that also had a few American Actors. If it were an American Movie, the female ghost would have been named something like Kayla, and the boy would have also used his middle name , like Justin Thomas Milquetoast. Well, something like that. I suggest all of you people who seem to think that we will like you better if you act like you hate your country, like your president does, to stop. We\'re not impressed.
miranda (9/19/2009 @ 2:36 am)
i\'m confused..kanna went to feed the rabbits..later the body of someone in the rabbits cage was found they found a jaw along with it saying the jaw was someone else\'s.. then you see kanna without her jaw at home...who was in the rabbit cage then?
polynesian boi from hawaii (9/28/2009 @ 2:52 pm)
now THIS is horror.
and i love it.
i must of watched this hundred times already.

Could anybody tell me what movie has a japanese(asian) lady appearing on the background of every photo the one guy took? i forgot most of the movie. all i remember, almost to the end of the movie this guy develop all his pictures and when he takes a good look at his picture, he sees a young(around her 30s/early 40s)asian lady in the background of every picture he took??? AND ITS NOT SHUTTER lol
Me0w0w0w0 (10/7/2009 @ 10:12 am)
This wasn\'t even scary man lol, and the movies too damn short.
randypecker (10/8/2009 @ 8:51 pm)
i watch and enjoy these films cos the american market has dried up on good storylines, i realise because they need to put bums on seats there will never be a truly scary shit yourself film being made cos its all about making money..
Russ (10/18/2009 @ 9:22 am)
My goodness you guys are ridiculous. BTW for your information alot of Americans produce really good Horror, mostly in books. In fact we have an untapped resource of Horro here in America that is almost perpetual. A fantastic writer. HP Lovecraft. Yes some films have been made based upon his stuff or regarding the genereal Cthulu Mythos, But you know what? and mind you Im a Caucasian myself and a proud American. I think the reason alot the American remakes are sucky, isnt just because they dont know what they are doing I think its a couple of things, First its cultural. American fans of Asina Horror Should get this with out even thinking. Cultural. What scares them may not scare us. vice versa. For instance I thought the original-Ju-on was Creepy, and I liked the story. But I thought the American Versions were far superior in the sense of horror. and thus far creepier. Sorry the bad guy is Asian, but it had to be someone. Part 3 in America sucked though.
Second I think its simply dumbed down. I dont mean to imply the Japanese are smarter than us, but I definitely think they are more well educated. Many Americans barely understand the TV they watch. Have you ever really sat with a diverse group of people all watching the same show. Some of them have no Idea what is going on. Even when they are paying attention. Its like guiding young children through a movie. Lets face it, America is a really dumbed down country. I hate to admit it, but its true, Im surprised we are where we are, and we have the people who dont waste time with football to thank for it. Quarter backs are just grunts waiting to be handed a shovel, by the guy with a pocket protector. hahahaha.
cheyd (10/18/2009 @ 11:16 am)
omg, just stop talking all this nonsense! if you like it, you like it, if you dont, you dont. if you dont like it, you dont have to start criticizing it, not to be mean.

i am korean and live in korea though i go to america too. i will have you all american movie haters that to us asians, america makes the greates horor movies and the greatest just movies of all time. you just like asian movies because its a change from yours. but american movies are so realistic and make you think they can happen to you. JAWS. i was scared to go swimming. THE FOURTH KIND. i had the ladys scary face in my head forever. DAWN OF THE DEAD. that was the creepiest zombie move ever. AND MORE. so just SHUT UP. lets all agree that we have our own opinions. i speak on the behalf of most asians.
