Just a Perfect Movie.I watched this a while ago and was blown away by how great it was.The acting is superb and the story is just amazing 10/10 from me.

this movie sists alongside OLD BOY as the best korean movie ive seen so far... its true horror lies beneath the bloody picture you see on the cover... the plot is the first of its kind for me at the time i watched it so i was completely blown away... my fave scene would be the last scene when she got out of the house after her stepmom told her she will regret the day she walked away... unaware of what horror awaits her she kept walking ....

I would say this is one of the best productions of Korea. And my favorite actress is in it! (Im Soojung). I love how it\'s a psychological kind of horror. And this actually has a story.

For those who are confused....*spoliers* This is what I think happened in the movie. There really is a ghost that kills the stepmother in the end. The ghost is the little sister that died trying to save their mom who committed suicide in the closet. She suffocated trying to save the mother. The older sister is so traumatized by the deaths of both her sister and mother that she was in the mental institution for awhile. When she gets out, she begins to have delusions that her sister is still alive, thus explaining her split personalities as her sister and stepmother.

first the movie is so confuse second i dont know who are who all girls look same they need change color of the hair or put gafet with them names but i thinks was kind of good movie not so good horror

Haven\'t seen a movie this good since The Shining. Yeah it got really confusing but by the end it made sense. Pretty much a perfect movie.

This has to be one of the saddest movies I have ever seen. The end of the movie will disturb you for a long time, and you will be sad. Superb acting, excellent scary parts, really scary ghosts, twists you will not see coming... this movie has it all.

actually, the movie sucked only because it didn\'t make sense. I thought the ending would explain everything like other asian horror movies do. although they tried, they didnt answer all the questions. so that ruined the whole movie.

A few things that need clarification: why did the closet in su-mi\'s room contain many copies of the same two items? When the fake stepmother talks to the father, is it the real stepmother talking, or su-mi, or is it just in su-mi\'s mind? when the uncle gets cross with the stepmother at dinner, is it su-mi talking to him, or the real stepmother, or just again, in su-mi\'s head? Is the aunt convulsing cuz she knows the house is haunted?

One thing that really bothers me is someone mentioned a remake in 2009. It would really suck if once again, the U.S., in lieu of having any kind of real innovation or brain power, were to steal yet another awesome flick from the asians and modify it to make a buck from dumb american audiences...

Whem someone doesnt understand something explain it. It\'s rude and obnoxious to belittle their intelligence. People think differently, be glad that you can explain something, and teach someone else something.

about the closet- it was, again, in su-mi\'s mind, but it had the same clothes in it because the stepmother \"put them there\"

when the stepmother talks to the father, most of it is in su-mi\'s mind. sometimes its the real stepmother. but at that one specific point when the stepmother is sitting and the father is pouring her something to drink and she asks \"where\'s su-mi\" and he tells her to stop playing games, THAT was su-mi speaking, and you learn that because suddenly the real stepmother comes in and you see its really su-mi sittin down

i think when the uncle has dinner with them that it is the real stepmother talking to him because remember when su-mi said she didnt want to eat with him? yeah.
and i have no idea why the aunt freaks out, but im guessing maybe she was nervous because they were in an awkward position. thats when she first sees the ghost.

Actually, maddy, at the dinner scene that is sumi not the stepmother. remember that the stepmother arrives only near the end, the father was always phoning her to tell her how ill she\'s become, how they\'re gonna have the aunt&uncle for dinner, etc. Thats why the dinner scene was so awkward. Because sumi was pretending she was the stepmother and making up these stories about their childhood.

It\'s all in Sumi\'s head. Shes traumatized by her mother and sisters death,so she acts like the stepmother, and believes her sister is still alive. I think there really is a ghost, and it kills the stepmother at the end. (Prob the mom.)

I frickin\' hate Hollywood and their remakes, this movie is great as it is, we didn\'t need the Uninvited. If you are new to the A-Horror, this is a good starting point. It kept me away from washing the dishes for a while :)

Ohhh, THIS is what The Uninvited is a remake of? Boo. I\'ve only seen the promos on tv, and I KNEW it carried the distinct scent of an Asian remake. I just had no idea A Tale Of Two Sisters is what it was a remake of. I own the movie and love it more with every viewing. I\'ll probably still see the Uninvited eventually out of sheer morbid curiosity, but still... boo. Why is all American horror becoming Asian remakes. Even ghosts are beginning to take on that creepy Asian ghost feel more and more often. Sheesh, is The Unborn an Asian remake too?

i agree it\'s not that scary but not a boring one. The whole story is about the elder sister who is regretting because she has the thinking that she was the reason behind her sister death. We can see this how she goes away from that house when her sister is dying.\"at the end of the movie.. which is confusing for all..\" she is kinda sick because she cannot get that moment out of her mind which is basic about the movie i guess. moreover there is that woman who is the doc.. or the fren of their father. it has show at the end that both of the sister hated that lady so much before their mother\'s death so when the su mi is sick she cannot get that lady outta her mind so she act like split personality in the whole movie.

For those who said the sister was schizo she wasn\'t. Her mother and sister died on the same day. If that doesn\'t make you crack I don\'t know what will. She also didn\'t like the fact that her father was cheating with the nurse while the mother was sick and she hated both the nurse and father for it. So between the deaths of her mother and sister to her cheating father, it would make anyone go nuts. I also liked the American version as well. This movie was slow and it had too much screaming and yelling for my taste but it was good. Not oscar worthy but it was good.

Yeah, too bad it\'s gone. I watched this movie a while back and couldn\'t sleep a wink for the whole day. I liked it on so many different levels. The haunting music, moody interiors, and fluid identities. I didn\'t fully understand it at first, maybe because it\'s not meant to be fully understood. But that\'s why it worked as a horror movie. That\'s what wierded me out the most.

I have the download of this movie. It was good. Su-Mi imagined the whole thing. I believe that Su-mi made herself feel better by imagining the ghost of her mother killed the step mother- but that was jus in her mind, it didnt really happen. I just watched The Uninvited (the American version of this film) and I thought it was equally as good only in a different way. I liked how they did not copy this film scene for scene and dialogue for dialogue (like \"One Missed Call\" did- eww). I highly reccomend both films as they are different and have VERY different endings.

I would like to watch this movie again, but it appears on my computer \"movie removed due to copyright claim.\"

one of the best korean horror films ive seen. its one of those movies that you would have to see twice to really get the story (if u didnt get it on the first time). i loved the twist. the color palette was beautiful! the wallpapers, the colors, the clothes, all beautiful, making the movie so poetic. the scares are great. i loved the symbolism (if you look closely, u might actually notice some things; many others have seen them and made theories of what they might mean). the music is also beautiful. one of my favorites. i have to buy the DVD. also: the remake The Uninvited (called this title cuz the americans thought \"a tale of two sisters\" didn\'t sound scary enough; but coincidentally, there\'s another korean horror film by the same name) was not that bad. it had more cussing and sexuality in it (typical teenage stuff) but it was ok. they changed the story a bit, but same twist. it even tried to copy the wallpaper-theme of the original, even though the original had way better color themes.

One of my favorite Asian horrors EVER! Trust me you won\'t get this movie first time watching it haha; Such a great story line, I was NOT expecting the ending when I first watched this a while back c: 10/10!

Utterly fantastic film...this really got me hooked on Asian cinema. IMDB has a lot of stuff on this and some great debates. Some people say that films shouldn\'t need to be debated but I love movies where different people take away different things. This film is so well crafted and intelegently made it\'s beyond belief!

Just want to clarify the plot a little *SPOILER ALERT* *SPOILER ALERT*

the events weren't totally in Su-Mi's mind...the events up until Su-Mi's return to the hospital were all "real", but told from the point of view of Su-Mi, which is why the film shows both Su-Mi and the stepmother. However in reality only Su-Mi and Dad were living in the house at the time, with Su-Mi acting both as herself and the stepmother persona. We know it's a real event because of the dinner scene; having the aunt see the ghost confirms that a. the events are real and b. that there really is a ghost(s), which got revenge on the real stepmother in the end.

it's a trip to watch the movie again and seeing all the clues that i missed the first time around. yea it took awhile to take it all in the first time around but it really is amazing.

Yes, this is one of the BEST films ever. I've seen it alot, and I watched scenes over and over for coursework.. but it's just so good. And the 2nd time around I realised more. It's great stylistically, and the acting's great and the story is great! Great twists and plot.. I love Im Su Jeong also..

I love this movie, although I had to watch it twice to really understand the plot & what was going on; I was really confused the first time I watched this. The acting in this movie is great & the environment just draws you in. The story has so many twists & turns, I love it. I really like this movie, I love that it's a psychological thriller too. Also I love the bond between Su-Mi & her sister; Even though [SPOILER] she's dead. I also feel so bad for Su-Mi, she lost everything & she's all by herself make-believing life with her sister, plus all that guilt she must feel, man it's so sad she has to life that way. Anyway, it's very different from what I'm used to, & probably going to be for other people too. The first time you watch this you will definitely need patience, because it doesn't explain most of anything until the end. But it's well worth watching. I give it a 10/10 :)
