amazing horror movie, a must-see for everyone!

This is like a documentary version horror movie. So, as for me I didn\'t find any suspend parts. The amazing thing about this film (from my opinion) is that the storyline and the video seemed so real, some might give in into believing this was a true story.

Very oddly done movie, but I think it pulls its tricks off much better than its obvious model, The Blair Witch Project. Also will be much more re-watchable! Can you guys see the WHOLE video of part two?

Because whenever we try to watch part 2, it would only get to the 1st minute when Kobayashi-san would discuss Kana. Then it skips to part 3, 4, 5--then... it\'d stop. It completely stops. However, we were able to watch parts 1,3-5. I\'m just wondering if anybody here has a similar situation as we do.

Oh and we did try and do it again the next day. The same thing happens. It\'s rather creeoy.

To be honest I thought it was a bit stupid. I didn\'t enjoy it very much. It all seemed a bit amateurish, like someone who saw the Blair Witch Project and thought, hey I can do that too! Not very scary unless you believe this is actual footage. Which its not.

In the other hand I watched this full movie and I can say that this is not a real documentary film...many scenes will prove that they\'re just acting, just like Marika when she\'s been interviewed, she\'s crying but there are no tears...yes there\'s a tear lately, but for me crying without tears is just extremely an acting :D
And before I forgot, not scary at all...well for me Horror movies are just like comedy :p well it\'s good for some creepy effect...sadako? haha!

Just to warn those who are like me, and hate when dogs/animals die in movies... I just wanted to give you a heads up, as it does show the aftermath of several different animals. Nothing in great detail, but it\'s there.
This movie was so scary that I couldn\'t fall asleep until 5am last night, and I haven\'t been scared from a movie since I was 18... I\'m 22 now.

waaayyy scarier than Blair Witch. i love how it sticks to the plot. great build-up with clues leading to a climax. i was pretty disturbed by some scenes, they were so creepy! the end was a memorable finish, it was the ultimate shocker, so freaking scary. it sent shivers down my spine. this movie definitely left a strong impression on me. *shivers* this ones\' gonna give me nightmares. highly recommended movie.

I\'ve just recently gotten into asian horrors but have always been a horror afficionado, mostly of American horrors. I\'ve seen hundreds- The great ones and the bad ones. This movie is now my favorite horror along with \'session 9\'. For the 1st time, since I saw \'the shining\' at 8 years-old I was actually pretty scared! Watch this movie!

This is a favorite of mine - I wish I could get it on DVD. This movie proves that you don\'t need a soundtrack to create a creepy mood. :)

wow, i must say that i liked this movie a lot. a foreword for all those who might be giving second thoughts:
-the movie cover picture looks lame and uninteresting, ya i understand, but that was the only barrier that kept me and my wife from watching this movie earlier!
everything else in this movie we found very surprisingly unexpected. from start to finish, the documentary-style really would have had me believing it was a real incident. very well done and definitely worth watching more than once.

my rating - 8.5/10 not scary, a bit creepy, very original with demon legend storyline.

Blair Witch Project-like but a lot more satisfying. I enjoyed this film. Very creepy, particularly to watch alone in the dark. Quite a long, drawn-out film, and a series of seemingly unrelated events, but it does all come together in the end.

I recommend it to the mockumentary fan and the horror fan who likes something a little \"different.\"

I don\'t think these are real captured events. It\'s fictional and it was done well. Not much suspense, until the very last segment, but it was decent. I don\'t know what all the hype was about for this movie. The last segment I understand, but as a whole- average. I\'ve seen other movies that take the cake. :D

I forgot to add- if this was based off true events, Mr. Hori would\'ve been taken into custody as prime suspect because of the flier left behind when Kana was taken. They don\'t go into much detail about that flier: if Kana drew it herself or if Ms. Ishii left it behind, but Mr. Hori sure did have some of those fliers.

I\'m so glad I found this movie on this site a few months ago. Noroi is actually my favorite horror film now...this is the scariest movie I have EVER seen in my life, and I\'m pretty well-educated when it comes to movies (and even Asian horror). If you haven\'t seen this movie, WATCH IT, even though it starts off slow. Stay with it. Watch it in the dark...it\'s one of those movies that will stay with you after you watch it.

This movie is a diamond amongst the rough, it is thrilling, enthralling and can suck one in to the film. Though it is probably not for everyone, it is shot as a Mockumentary (a mock documentary) Like \"The Blair Witch Project\". So, in respect please do not consider it anything like \"Sick Nurses\" or \"The Grudge\" it focuses on making the film seem real, which it does and impresses very well. I would not recommend it for anyone who likes Gore and confuses it for Horror. Easily a 9/10 stars for me.

I didnt explain why I thought this was the scariest move Ive ever seen in my earlier post...The beauty of this movie is that the story and plot isnt your typical Hollywood horror film; its not even your typical Asian horror film. It belongs in a genre on its own; the horror of this movie doesn\'t come from blood and gore, or from jump-scares. Its an eerie, drawn-out and visceral story about the paranormal and demonology...the \"scary\" parts of the movie are more spine-chilling than jumpy...Its just true, \"real\" horror that sticks with you for days; the disturbing kind of horror that makes you freeze up and turns your throat dry instead of jumping out of your seat. That kind of horror is my favorite kind, and I wish I knew of more movies like this. The only other movie I know of similar to it is the America movie \"Session 9,\" but its not quite as scary as Noroi. jeez where does one begin. i was scared by the blair witch i admit it but i guess once that type of movie has been done the novelty wears off because i wasn't scared at all of the movie 'paranormal movie' that came out and this didn't scare me either. I think it was more owing to fact that NO ONE in this movie reacted in a normal way for their given situation. A lady hears babies when she knows none live there and she hasn't seen her neigbors son since they moved in... who does she call.... no not the cops or dcs she calls... a paranormal journalist WTF. 2nd Kana goes missing and the journalist Kobayashi never calls the cops to give them his leads. 3rd they are consulting a frigging paranoid schizo like he might actually have something sane and relevant to say. How the hell was a guy like that even on the streets in the first place. There is no way he wouldn't have been instutionalized WAAYY before. Also, why make your "super psychic" a schizo weirdo... what was the point, why not make him a normal person. 4th that chick ishii's house must have been frigging FREEZING seeing as it was falling down and what do demons like to live in filth or something, why can't possessed ppl have clean houses. THEN at the end a psycho comes to your door and what do u do... you grab your camera of course... seriously... and then said psycho attacks ur family and what do u do, help them... noooo film them u are making a documentary after all then of course when ur wife lights herself up like a marshmellow at a boy scout campout instead of helping her u ... dun dun dun dun drumrole... GRAB YOUR CAMERA!! the whole movie was one big WTF.

truly realistic, almost everyone reacted in a human normal way in the movie, you must just think about it. why would someone call the police when hearing babies crying when your neightboard didnt have any?
i mean it sounds more like a horror story that i would feel ashamed of telling to the police also she wasnt sure they were babies.
The journalist kobayashi knew things from the crazy psyquic, which was crazy for seein strange worms or death babies trying to eat him for being a psyquic also imagine watching ghost your whole life. "why cant possesed ppl have clean houses" that sounds plain stupid...

I thought the tagline was supposed to be "Everybody dies"? The actress, who was the most, uh, actively haunted throughout the movie apparently gets off scott free at the end. The cameraman, too, he's the one narrating the end.

Wow, I left a comment on this movie last February! I never watched it then but I just watched it. It is pretty good. Plot is definitely a love child of Fatal Frame 2, Blair Witch Project, and REC.

I think Hori and Kana were pawns from the beginning. The boy was the manifestation of the demon and he controlled the others. The actress was also a pawn, but she rid herself of the possession by preforming the ritual to banish the demon from her body. Junko was definitely the first pawn- BUT remember the boy from the beginning of the ritual? Yeah- he was the one who was possessed. The screaming from Junko was him spreading to her so he could control her. The boy was the manifestation from the beginning.

I don't know anything about demonology, but the possession system seems to work like shown in this movie and in the Spanish movie REC. There is a main body that holds the demon, and the demon is able to spread it's possession to others and control them like pawns (or puppets if you like that term better)only the destruction of those bodies will not rid of the demon, you have to destroy the main body. In this movie's case the main body is the boy (though he was able to reach control of the guy only guy who knew this).

I liked it. It waas pretty good. It was very creepy. Fans of those fake documentaries should watch this one. It kind of reminds me of -Satanic Panic- a fake documentary/ horror movie. 3/5

Bad story, bad execution. Really annoying how the supposedly proffesional cameraman always zoomed in A LOT and started shaking the camera whenever something happened. I get it, it's supposed to be that way in order to look more like a documentary, but wtf, that was just annoying. And the characters couldn't be any more stereotypical and shallow. 1/5

Totally undeserving of the negative comments. This little beauty proves without a doubt that the Japanese will always be the pioneers for intelligent, well thought out, creepy and original horror! With its unique character, indepth story telling and intrigue this movie kept me hungering for more and it delivered. It left me satisfied and truly believing that a big budget doesn't make a film! 4.5/5

nobody mention this but in my opinion, the procedure of the 'kagutaba' ritual caused the demon to be unleashed... The old guy mention that it used to be two bow, two clap.. but with the new procedure, something happened to the women playing 'kagutaba'

Wow, amazing amazing horror movie. It didn't even rely on shock factor to make me squirm in my seat. The documentary style made it all the more believable, I had to remind myself a few times that it wasn't real! The putting together of the clips is amazing too. Not confusing in the slightest.
Awesome movie. One of the best I've seen. :D

Holy fuck.

Heard a lot of hype from this movie, so I checked it out. I love 'blair witch' style movies, so I thought it was great early on. I actually saved the last part of the movie for the next day cause I was watching at 3 am and I got scared, lol. I don't know if it was the hype or the fact that I watched it in the daytime, but the ending was a big let down for me. The rest of the movie was great, though.

Awesome movie. The dude covered with aluminium was hilarious. Scary movie aswell.
