^^s/he must be referring to the remade us version.. haha..
chel (4/18/2009 @ 9:54 am)
I was thinking the us remade version sucked really badly. Personally, I still prefer asian horrors over western horror flicks. Western horror flicks are an absolute waste of time.

ok stop bashing american horror movies. some of the best horror movies are american. japanese horrors are just stupid anyways. i don\'t like remakes just as much as the next person, but remaking a movie is giving praise to the asian directors. why go through the trouble of remaking a movie if you didn\'t like it to begin with? korean and thai are the best so far out of the asian cinemas anyways. oh and as i was saying about american horror take a look at some of the greats clive barker, stephen king, richard matherson. these guuys are great writers it\'s the american directors who mess up a good story. just my opinion. i enjoy watching asian horror movies to me they are different then americas horror. and yeah americas horrors are not as enjoyale as asian horrors. but they have alot of good horrors also.
POE (4/21/2009 @ 10:23 am)
It\'s not scary, just sad. But some of the death scenes are pretty gruesome. But the ghost is totally not scary at all.

mrdac -

the same reason they remake or change excellent games for a u.s. audience - it has to be thoroughly dumbed-down for americans.

This may not have been true with maybe a handful of horror films one or two generations ago, but for sure today the films we have reflect our nation of ignorance, laziness, and consumerism.

Almost every horror flick in the past 5 years is exactly that. It\'s even present with u.s. versions of games - they\'re remade, ripped off, dumbed down, cut to hell, badly translated, and utterly ruined for the sake of attracting audiences who are lazy, stupid, and wanting nothing more than instant gratification, cheap thrills, recognizable labels, and douchebag characters they can relate to.

wow sakura, I sense a bit of hostility there. any way I am American Hispanic. and I love Asian horror. yes, American horror can and have been dumb. but, not all there have been some gems. the exorcist, poltergeist, evil dead and more. but I really do love Asian horror the most. but to bash? there is no need for that. horror does not have to be just one way, one taste. Asian horror is not the best in the world but its great in its own way. so relax sakura, its ok. everyone have different tastes, no matter where they are from.
Imahavah (4/24/2009 @ 1:31 pm)
Well said Chulla. Thank you for having an even well thought out post.

frankly speaking, the skills of making good horror movies are from culture. I absolutely love asian horrors and I don\'t see a like american horror movies but the same way I love american musics while asian musics, if not those that resemble western musics, are simply garbage in my ears but that\'s in my personal ears. Asian have been exposed to the supernatural since the beginning of civilisation therefore it\'s natural that their movies will look natually scary because it reflects the actual horror they\'ve been exposed to. But if you take out the content of the movies, 98% of asian horror movies are pretty badly made and that\'s where asian fail. So they do have the story to make good horror movies but frankly the movie technics should be imported from abroad. Comparing and judging the movies content of two different culture as to saying one is dumb shows that the person commenting simply lack education and failed miserably as a movie judge.

horrorluver (2/1/2010 @ 4:07 pm)
i thought the latest scary movie that was american made that was probably good, or even remotely good, was The Unborn. I don't know if it was a rip off of any asian movie, because i haven't seen one in similarities to it, but i was pretty scared throughout that movie.

the only bad thing about Asian horror movies now and days is the story line's they're using are overused and can be pretty damn much predictable. it's like, nothing out of the ordinary, bam, you get haunted for simply knowing her name, bam, everyone around you starts dying, you start investigating, the ghost is following you, then you meet someone who's got a story to tell you about how the ghost cheated on her lover and got chopped up and is now a 'vengeful spirit', then BAM, you die...all the same really.

but i love both american and asian horror movies, they just keep my time all occupied^^
